Welcome to Fifth Grade!!
The 2011-2012 school year is going to be a wonderful year for you! We know you are wondering what to expect for the school year, so we developed this team handbook to hopefully answer any questions and concerns you may have.
Fifth grade is a year of transition. Aside from the larger size of our building, you will have a locker, several materials to keep track of, and an Agenda Book in which you will write your class and homework assignments. You will have specials, including Gym, Music, P.E, and Art. Some of you may also play musical instruments and attend band or orchestra in place of some of these specials. At Hahn we attend interesting assemblies, go to the Media Center (Library and Computer Lab) and go on many fun field trips.
Throughout the busy year, you will be assigned homework, projects, and other work that must be completed outside of school. Homework assignments will be written in your agenda book and you will be responsible for turning them in on time (See Grading Policy). This agenda book goes home on a nightly basis for you to review with your parents. We will require a signature every night when this is done. Agenda books are a valuable tool for parent/ teacher communication as we review them daily. Agenda books are a key element to success!
Fifth grade will be very different from fourth grade. We will work on organizing your papers, assignments, and materials. At some point during the day, you will be switching rooms for different subjects.
